Women Divorced as Men are relegated
The Charlton Womens Team have been disbanded due to the mens relegation. This will be welcome to some Charlton fans, but for people like me dissapointing. I followed Charlton Women when they first converted from Croydon Ladies. My self and a few friends attended two FA Cup Finals and a number of games at the Valley. I recall watching us lose to Fuhams Ladies, whilst we sang "We Beat Your Men 3-1, We Beat Your Men 3-1..".
I know we need the savings as a result of relegation, but this is a retrogade step as they have closed down from 1st team to academy. This was a good way of involving young girls in Charlton and enabling them to identify with a particular part of the club.
As Casey Stoney (Who I have a picture of presenting me with a sponsors picture) says the men get relegated and the women suffer. If you take that further a number of those responsible will be beneficiaries of improved contracts elsewhere, whereas the women will now need to find new clubs and this will affect the non 1st teamers and the academy players most.
I wish the girls the very best and hope they find a club soon, some of them will be competing for England in China in the World Cup.
For Minty and Reg I wish the ghost of Richard Redden.

Yet another poor decision after Dowie and Reed ... Pratts
I agree with your comment. Will we save that much? Will it mean a fall off in the numbers of younger female supporters, an important part of our future support base?
