We have now learned to our cost that there aren't many good young British managers out there and we need to change our direction.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7398540357670130024.post-50872371536178590732008-12-10T21:51:00.000+00:002008-12-10T21:51:00.000+00:00I was happy with the Dowie appointment and delight...I was happy with the Dowie appointment and delighted with the Pardew appointment. Given the limited funds, the Directors were willing to speculate to accumulate. For reasons I cannot entirely fathom, it kept going wrong, and the Board still kept allowing funds to be spent to make things right.

On a general level you can't fault them.

The signs have been there from the start of the year. Pardew's selection policy, the dropping of players for one or two mistakes, and then replacing them with a loan player etc.

I can understand the Board supporting Pardew last season with the input of loanees - a sort of twist or bust situation. And it would seem that they have tried to rein Pardew in the past, hence his occasional sniping in the press.

But Pards himself said he brought in too many loan players last season - so what does to do this season? And what is the first thing Parkinson does when at the helm?

I personally don't blame the Board for our predicament. I think they have pretty much made the right decisions all the way down the line (other than the fantasy league decisions none of us would make if it were real).

But it can't just be bad luck can it?

Pembury AddickAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7398540357670130024.post-2026328039871631022008-12-10T21:47:00.000+00:002008-12-10T21:47:00.000+00:00Excellent comments...It's a shane to think that th...Excellent comments...It's a shane to think that the 3rd division is looming, but I used to have a marvelous time watching Hales and Flanagan...May well take the lower league before we bounce back...All about perception and confidence and the opposition see Charlton as a walkover and the players react accordingly...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7398540357670130024.post-38647730581897345332008-12-10T20:30:00.000+00:002008-12-10T20:30:00.000+00:00All very true.
